Corporate Social Responsibility

SES is committed to the economical and efficient use of energy and introduced an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001, which was re-certified by TÜV AUSTRIA in 2022. In 2022, the system was also introduced in the malls in Slovenia and Italy and also certified by TÜV AUSTRIA.

In 2013, VARENA submitted itself to BREEAM AT certification of its existing premises. In 2017, the excellent result was surpassed in the context of the BREEAM In-use recertification: The center was awarded the “excellent” rank with regard to both its operational management and its building performance.

During the course of a BREEAM-AT-InUse certification process, FISCHAPARK at Vienna’s Neustadt was awarded a “Very Good” rating in the building performance category.

SES Spar European Shopping Centers was the first, and is the only, European developer to receive the ReSource Award 2008.

In 2017, Q19 was the first shopping center in Vienna to complete the ÖkoProfit module, and continues to do so until today. The former ÖkoProfit module has become OekoBusiness and is geared towards decreasing costs of operation, for example, via the efficient use of resources and raw materials, as well as the reduction of waste.

In 2009, ATRIO received the Best-of-the-Best Award for Sustainable Design in Las Vegas (USA), confirming its position as the world’s most sustainable shopping center in its category. Within a short time, it had become a role model in terms of sustainability and ecologically responsible behavior.

In 2009, ATRIO was awarded the TRIGOS in the “Society” category in acknowledgment of its social and ecological commitment, in particular, its unique technology of resource-saving energy generation.

ATRIO won the ReSource Award 2008, which honors sustainable behavior in the fields of environment, social affairs, and economic efficiency. Operator SES was the first, and is the only, European developer to receive the ReSource Award 2008.

In December 2007, EUROPARK won the Sustainable Design Award for sustainable construction, making it the most sustainable shopping center in its category.

In 2006, the center was awarded the title “Family-friendly Company”. Special emphasis was placed on flexible working time models as well as corporate childcare facilities. The State of Salzburg honors companies that are particularly family-friendly and act as pioneers in the development of new work-life-balance models.
